Gabumon is a Digimon creature from the Japanese Digimon media franchise that comprises anime, manga, toys, video games, trading card games and other media. Gabumon's name is derived from "gabugabu", a Japanese onomatopoeia for guzzling.

"Gabumon" is the name that all members of this particular Digimon species share. There are several different Gabumon that appear in various Digimon anime and manga series.

The most well-known appearance of Gabumon is in the Digimon Adventure anime as the partner of Matt Ishida.

The Gabumon of Digimon Adventure also appears in the sequel series Digimon Adventure 02 and all the Digimon Adventure/02 related movies.

Gabumon is a yellow-skinned reptile-like Digimon about 2½ feet tall. He has a 10 inch long horn on his head with markings that resemble those of electric circuity and an alligator-like tail which is normally held in a semi-erect position. The tail has regularly-spaced bumps on its top, and his back is covered in a wolf-like, white (with blue stripes) fur pelt from a young Garurumon[1]. He has taken off the pelt completely once during the series. It was in the episode 'Subzero Ice Punch' when Matt passed out from hypothermia after Gabumon told him to stay in the cave wile he went to look for TK. He found Matt covered in snow and brought him back to the cave and took off his pelt and wrapped up Matt in the pelt so he could warm up. They never show him directly without the pelt but you can see his shadow when he is taking off the pelt. Without the pelt he appears to have a thickset tubby body with small ears and thickset arms, legs, torso and neck. In other episodes like in the episode 'Evil Shows Its Face' you can briefly see Gabumon with his pelt partly off and his arm without the pelt covering it. Or in the episode 'Garurumon' Tai was trying to scare Gabumon and Tai partly removed his pelt. Gabumon's belly is sky blue, with symmetric pink motifs. Gabumon's eyes are red and (although it is covered up) his muzzle is lizard-like. He is double-chinned, and has a thickset tubby built body, possibly explaining his name (Gabumons name comes from Gabugabu, the Japanese word for guzzle.) Gabumon's horn goes through a hole at the top of the pelt on his head. Four white teeth are also attached to each side of pelt's muzzle, and three pink claws to the end of each limb. Handles are present inside the forelimbs; Gabumon's hands are usually wrapped around them to keep the pelt in place. The visible presence of these handles is erratic during the series. They resemble are strips of the pelt stretched over his palms.

Gabumon first meets Matt in the form of Tsunomon. The two meet as soon as Matt arrives in the Digital World. Tsunomon soon Digivolves into Gabumon to protect Matt against an attacking Kuwagamon and since then Gabumon has been the preferred form. Gabumon later Digivolves into several other, increasingly powerful forms.

Gabumon has a mellow and calm attitude towards life, but is rather shy. He loyally follows Matt, even when Matt had been tricked by Cherrymon into fighting against Tai and the other Digi-Destined. Eventually, he was able to convince his partner to rejoin the other Digi-Destined, after promising him that they would be "friends for life". Gabumon dosn't speak as much as the other characters possibly due to his calm and mellow nature. He gets along with everyone well.

Gabumon appears again in the sequel season Digimon Adventure 02 to help the newer Digi-Destined against the Digimon Emperor. Later on, Gabumon travels into the real world along with the other first generation Chosen Digimon to help fight the other Digimon who had entered the real world. Gabumon also plays a part in the Digimon Adventure movies, where he and Agumon Warp Digivolved to WarGreymon and MetalGarurumon and DNA Digivolved to Omnimon in order to fight against the evil Diaboromon.

  • Blue Blaster/Howling Blaster (Petit Fire): Gabumon releases a blast of blue fire from his mouth. In the dub this attack has on one occasion been called out as 'Howling Blaster"

Other formsEdit

The name "Gabumon" refers only to the Rookie form of this Digimon. Throughout the series, Gabumon gains the ability to Digivolve into a number of more powerful forms, each with a different name and special attack. However, the Rookie level is his preferred form and the one he spends most of his time in, due to the amount of energy required to stay in a higher form.

Punimon is Gabumon's Fresh form. Punimon is a red flat blob with three cylinder-shaped horns on the top of his head. His mouth is not visible, and his eyes are elipse-shaped. File:WereGarurumon t.gif

WereGarurumon is Gabumons Ultimate form. He is modeled closely after werewolves. Unlike Garurumon, WereGarurumon stands upright and has an anthropomorphic build. He wears pair of blue jeans and a belt on the jeans and his upper torso. There is a tear in one of the legs of the jeans. Two pads are attached to the knees of the blue jeans one of them has three spikes. A skull and crossbones is stitched on one leg of the jeans. He has a brown shoulder pad where the belt is attached. A glove with a torn sleeve attached covers one arm and spiked brass knuckles on one hand. He wears earrings on his longer strands of fur and bandages on one foot and one arm. He has a stitched scar on his torso. He lacks as many and as detailed stripes as Garurumon. Unlike most digimon WereGarurumon is smaller than his previous form of Garurumon. He is also unique in fact that from all of Gabumon´s digivolutions,he´s the only wose attacks are completely physical. WereGarurumon is also slower than Garurumon due to being anthropomorphized but now has greater attack and defensive power.

Gabumon reached this form when Matt and Joe were forced to work at a Digimon restaurant after falling for DemiDevimon's schemes. When Matt decided to leave, the owner of the restaurant Digitamamon suddenly attacked T.K. shortly after he showed up. Joe saved T.K., but put his own life in danger, which allowed Matt to realize he needed his friends. This made his crest glow and allowed Garurumon to Digivolve to WereGarurumon and defeated Digitamamon. WereGarurumon appears again in many battles to help fight against Myotismon.

When Matt used the crest power to free the Digimon Sovereigns, Gabumon lost the power to become WereGarurumon until Azulongmon gave one of his DigiCores to the Digi-Destined Digimon three years later. This allowed their lost ability to Digivolve to their ultimate forms.

WereGarurumon appears one last time in Digimon Adventure 02, where the Sovereign Azulongmon gave one of his Digi-Cores to the Digi-Destined Digimon. This allowed Gabumon to reach his ultimate form again. WereGarurumon, along with Stingmon, went to Mexico to help the Latin American DigiDestined with their Digimon there. He later appeared to help fight the Daemon Corps, appearing with Garudamon to help fight Lady Devimon who fled from the sight of the reinforcements. After that he and those with him went to help Tai, Izzy, Davis and Ken and their partners fight SkullSatamon but was beaten down by the undead digimon and reverted to Gabumon.

File:MetalGarurumon t.gif

MetalGarurumon is Gabumon's Mega form. He has completely mechanized his body. His chest is yellow and his belly is sky blue with Gabumon's symmetrical pink motifs. His tail resembles Gabumon's horn with a blade attached to the end of it. He has hidden weapons in his feet, back, legs, stomach, eyes, shoulders and snout. He has a pair of beamed wings on his back missal launcher which give him the ability to fly. Although he has mechanized his body completely he has not lost his agility, speed, or alertness. Omnimon t

Omnimon (オメガモン Omegamon)

Omnimon is the Mega level Digimon that results when WarGreymon and MetalGarurumon fuse during DNA Digivolution. Though he is not a higher level than his parent Digimon he is stronger than their individual powers combined. His body is entirely covered in white armor adorned with black, blue and yellow markings. His left arm ends in WarGreymon's head and his right arm with MetalGarurumon's, giving him two primary attacks (Transcendent Sword and Supreme Cannon). The cape he wears flows over the width of his body.

The name "Omnimon" is derived from "omni", an English prefix meaning "all". His Japanese name, "Omegamon", derives from the "omega", the last letter of the Greek alphabet.

His first appearance is in the second Digimon Adventure film, Our War Game!. WarGreymon and MetalGarurumon had tried unsuccessfully to defeat Diaboromon, a Digimon they followed into the Internet to prevent him from consuming all its data. When Tai and Matt were accidentally transported inside the Internet they gave their spiritual energy to their Digimon so that they could win - Omnimon formed and defeated Diaboromon.

In the second Digimon Adventure 02 movie, Revenge of Diaboromon, Omnimon reformed when the DigiDestined discovered that Diaboromon survived the first battle and returned to the Internet. Omnimon destroyed what he thought was Diaboromon but found that the battle had been a trap - he had been fighting a decoy that exploded to reveal the innumerable Kuramon that were sealed inside. After wreaking havoc in the Real World all of them fused to form Armageddemon, who Omnimon fought but could not defeat. He gave his energy to Imperialdramon Fighter Mode (a more powerful version of Imperialdramon, the Mega Digimon formed when Veemon and Ken Ichijouji's partner Wormmon DNA Digivolve), who permanently destroyed Armageddemon when he Mode Changed into Imperialdramon Paladin Mode.

  • Transcendent Sword (Grey Sword): Slashes enemies with the sword from WarGreymon's mouth.
  • Supreme Cannon (Garuru Cannon): Fires a powerful blast of icy cold energy that freezes and destroys enemies with the cannon from MetalGarurumon's mouth.
